API Terms and Acceptable Use

1. Who we are

The API is operated by ArtoMania Studio Private Limited (CIN U74999PN2016PTC164906), Pune, India, trading as Studio99. Contact: reach@studio99.app.

2. Your key and your account

• API keys are issued to a Studio99 account and are confidential. Keep them server-side; never ship them in client apps, browser code or public repositories.
• You are responsible for all requests made with your keys, including by anyone you share them with. Rotate a key immediately if it leaks.
• One account may hold several keys. Usage and credits are metered per account, and rate limits per key.

3. Licence to the outputs

• Paid plans (Basic, Starter, Growth, Enterprise): you receive a worldwide, perpetual, non-exclusive licence to use, modify, reproduce and distribute the SVG, PNG and JPG outputs in your own products, services and client work, including commercially. No attribution is required.
• Free plan: outputs are watermarked previews for evaluation and prototyping only. They carry no commercial licence and may not be published as final artwork.
• The licence covers the rendered artwork, not the fonts. Fonts remain the exclusive property of ArtoMania Studio and are never delivered to you.

4. Acceptable use

You must not, and must not let your users:

• Extract, reconstruct, trace or otherwise recover font files, glyph sets or glyph data from any output, including by bulk-rendering character sets.
• Train, fine-tune or evaluate machine-learning models on outputs in order to reproduce Studio99 calligraphy styles or fonts.
• Resell, sublicense or proxy raw API access. You may build a product that uses the API; you may not offer the API itself, or a thin wrapper around it, as your product.
• Reverse engineer, probe or interfere with the API, the engine, rate limiting or credit accounting.
• Send text that is unlawful, defamatory, or infringes someone else's rights, or use outputs in a way that does.
• Misrepresent outputs as hand lettering by a named artist, or use Studio99, IndiaFont or ArtoMania names or marks to endorse your product without written permission.

5. Credits, plans and billing

• Metered calls cost credits: 1 credit per variant returned by /generate, 1 per output from /render, 1 per library download. Reads (/fonts, /library/search, /capabilities, /health) are free.
• Monthly allowances: Free 100 · Basic 500 (₹999) · Starter 5,000 (₹2,999) · Growth 25,000 (₹9,999) · Enterprise by contract. Current prices are always on the pricing page.
• Plan credits reset each billing month and do not roll over. Wallet top-ups, where offered, do not expire while the account is active.
• Plans renew automatically until cancelled. Fees are non-refundable except where the law requires otherwise or as stated in our licence and refund terms.
• A failed request that returns an error is not charged. A successful request is charged even if you discard the result.

6. Rate limits and fair use

Each plan has a per-minute request limit, returned in the X-RateLimit-* headers and listed on the status page. We may throttle or temporarily suspend keys whose traffic pattern degrades the service for others, and will tell you when we do.

7. Availability and support

• We aim for continuous availability but offer no uptime guarantee on self-service plans. Live health is on the status page.
• Enterprise contracts carry a 99.9% monthly availability target with service credits, and named support.
• Self-service support is by email at reach@studio99.app, typically answered within one business day (Mon–Fri, IST).

8. Changes and versioning

• Additive changes (new fields, new endpoints, new options) ship under /api/v1 and are recorded in the changelog.
• Breaking changes ship as a new major version. The previous version keeps running for at least 12 months after the new one is announced.
• We may change these terms with 30 days' notice by email to the account address and a note in the changelog. Continued use after the notice period is acceptance.

9. Your data and your users' data

• Text you send is processed only to produce the requested output. It is not stored as content, not profiled, and not used to train models. Short-lived technical logs (timestamps, latency, error codes, credits used, a truncated text prefix for abuse investigation) are kept for billing and support.
• For your end users' text you are the controller and Studio99 the processor acting on your instructions. You are responsible for your own privacy notice and lawful basis.
• Details are in the Privacy Policy, section 2.11. A data processing addendum is available for Enterprise contracts on request.

10. Suspension and termination

• You can delete keys or close your account at any time from accounts.studio99.app.
• We may suspend a key immediately for a breach of section 4, for non-payment, or to protect the service, and will tell you why. Other terminations get 30 days' notice.
• Licences already granted to outputs under section 3 survive termination.

11. Liability and law

The API is provided as is. To the extent the law allows, our total liability for any claim relating to the API is limited to the fees you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. These terms are governed by the laws of India, with courts in Pune, Maharashtra having jurisdiction.
